HMEI Thanksgiving
HMEI's Thanksgiving at HMEI was a culmination of much fine art, culinary art, and great comminity service projects. Kindergarten "Indians" ate pilrgim stew while other grades ate international Thanksgiving potluck dinners featuring the students' favorite dish from their main ethnic culture (a rich and tasty treaure of Hawaii's cultural mix.)
Almost every class did art projects or made presentations. Some of them did community service projects blessing preschoolers and those in convalescent homes. Thank you teachers and students for making another Thanksgiving a very special time at HMEI!

Wonderful Visioning Retreat Day
with Faculty & Board
The HMEI faculty and many of the board members met together for a "Visioning Retreat" at a secluded home on North Shore Monday, June 4, 2007. Our goal: To cast a four-year vision for HMEI as a way to even more effectiively accomplish our mission.
It was a remarkable day filled with prayer and positive communication, the results of which will have a lasting impact on the children God brings to us. Discussion and focus was led by Terry Hansen, a hospital administrattor from Calfornia. We all appreciated his gifted facilitation.
The volume of material generated is being sifted through, organized, and being assigned. When it is in final form we will publish it to you, our constituency. We want you to hold us, the faculty and board, to our responsibilities of carrying out the vision God has given us. And we value your input.
Our next follow-up meeting is July 5, 2007.
Stay tuned for more news about our four year vision.
